Volunteer Information
As with any organization, the success of any of the programs or initiatives that are available to members is largely dependent on the efforts of the many volunteers who give freely of their time to help those less fortunate than they. MSS is always interested in talking to people who would like to volunteer in any area. Here are some the key elements of being an MSS volunteer:
- Perform follow-up telephone calls for sponsorship dollars, prize contributions and donations for the various fundraising events;
- Pick up the prizes and donations for the various events;
- Be an on-site participant/helper at the outdoor events like the annual Golf Tournament and the Journey of Hope Walk;
- Serve on one of the fundraising event planning committees:
- The Journey of Hope Walk for People with Schizophrenia in September
- The Golf for people with Schizophrenia Tournament in June
- The Iris Gala Evening in May
- The MSS Volunteers’ Picnic in Summer
- The MSS Consumers’ Christmas Party in December
- Assist with the undertaking and production of various MSS-sponsored workshops:
- The Hearing Voices Simulation Workshop
- Name That Feeling
- Strengthening Families Together
- The Eight Stages of Healing
