Annual Iris Gala

Annual Iris Gala It's a night to shine, appreciate wine, dancing and fine dining while enjoying the company of others who are the family and friends of the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society (MSS). Each year, approximately 250 attendees enjoy music, photography, a raffle, and auctions for prizes, art and even a live auction for three grand prizes.

While savoring this fine evening with such great company, you will also be participating in a fantastic philanthropic opportunity to help support a 30+ year established organization with goals to continue its growth and works in the communities of Winnipeg and Manitoba. Community leaders attend this event and that can include you.

The funds raised at the Gala will assist the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society in providing free programs and services to children, families, friends and individuals who are affected by schizophrenia and psychosis.

Throughout history, the iris has long been a symbol of hope and valour. The Schizophrenia movement chose the iris as a modern symbol for those suffering from mental illness following the historic sale of "Les Irises" (by Vincent van Gogh) for more than $50 million in 1987. "Les Irises" was painted in the garden of the asylum at St. Remy, in the south of France, in May 1889 when van Gogh was having his most desperate battle with a mental illness, now believed to have been some form of psychosis.
